Nancy Kruberg- Lab Tech, Presenter, Consultant
I have been backyard composting since 1989, and have had successes and challenges over this time! I started vermicomposting in 2014 and really enjoy the worms, the process and the results.
I became a Master Composter with the County of San Mateo in 2014, then completed my Master Gardener training in San Mateo and San Francisco Counties in 2018 and am currently a member of the Master Gardeners in San Diego County. I have been studying the soil food web since 2015 and am currently in the Consultant Training Program with Dr. Elaine Ingham of Soil Foodweb, Inc.
In 2016, I completed Dr. Ingham’s Microscope Class and have been fascinated with soil microbial life since then. I learned to assess the biology in the soil through hands on training with Dr. Elaine Ingham.
During this journey, I have enjoyed eating food from my home garden as well as raising and caring for Nigerian Dwarf goats and chickens. In addition, I have enjoyed gardening with children in school gardens for more than 10 years.
I enjoy teaching about composting, healthy soils, soil life and vegetable gardening to both adults and children and encourage everyone to give it a try!
